Fall is one of our favorite seasons…here in the Midwest farmers can be found in the fields harvesting their crops, the animals begin growing their winter coats, the changing colors of nature provide for daily inspiration, football season is in full swing, and the air has the perfect amount of crispness.
But one of the best things about fall is the opportunity to get out your fall decorations. We were so excited that we created a free fall printable to share!
A couple of years ago, our friend Michelle and her husband purchased a beautifully preserved historic home in North Platte, Nebraska. North Platte is home to Union Pacific’s Bailey Yards, the world’s largest rail yard. The Jetters family purchased land from Union Pacific to build a home in 1906. Mr. Jetters was a conductor at the railroad, and his wife was a teacher. Mrs. Jetters’ sister was a prominent photographer as well as a proprietor of a successful photography gallery in the city. After only three years, the Jetters sold the house to the Wilcox family, who owned the Wilcox Department Store in North Platte. It is said their home was frequented by Buffalo Bill Cody, one of the most colorful figures of the American Old West, who also had a home nearby.
A home filled with rich history and beautiful old woodwork is a phenomenal setting for J. Devlin Glass Art home décor accents. The timeless elegance of a historic home combined with J. Devlin’s modern day twist on vintage glass art is a flattering display of old and new together. Michelle has the J. Devlin Pic 310 series glass photo frames, and we were excited to visit her to see how she incorporated them into her vintage style home and fall decor theme.
The beautiful original fireplace mantel was the perfect setting for some fall color and the clear textured glass photo frames. Across the top of the mantel where Michelle’s husband displays an old shotgun family heirloom, fall berry branches carry through the colors found in the fall wreath and other accents around the fireplace, including an old basket filled with twig pumpkins and more fall foliage next to a sprig of twigs tied with a brown ribbon.
A fall leaf garland is draped across the mantel behind an old kerosene lamp and the Pic 310 series J. Devlin glass photo frames in 8” x 10” and 3” x 3” sizes. This series of clear textured glass photo frames works well for black and white photos, such as the 3” x 3” of Michelle’s father when he was a child, as well as today’s modern colored photos and artwork. The 8” x 10” frame showcases our free fall printable. A couple of mini pumpkins and more fall foliage complete the mantle.
Beside the fireplace, the rustic fall theme continues with an old crate as a picture stand for the J. Devlin Pic 310 5” x 7” textured glass photo frame featuring a recent colorful fall photo of Michelle’s kids. There’s more fall colors in the foliage and a homemade wooden star with twig and berry wreath accents the colors as well.
We also found the J. Devlin Pic 310 series glass photo frames in the entryway near an original leaded window. Featuring the fall-themed facepapers that came with the frames (it’s just like a free printable!), these frames are accentuated with the light coming from the window, which heightens the textures and details in the frames. The beautiful original wood window frame also adds to the overall effect and appearance.
